  Update March 15, 2005

Yesterday I called RPE first thing and ordered a couple of the carb boots and reed valve assembly gaskets for my engine, and had them sent to the motel here in Tucson. This morning they were delivered before noon, and we drove out to Larry's place so I could install one of them.

After installing the new boot and gasket I ran up the Pup and went through all of the throttle range several times, stopping at my cruise rpm and simulating descent rpm. It was too windy to even consider a test flight.

Everything looked good as far as maximum rpm, EGT and CHT, so I did not have to make anymore adjustments to the carb. After we all went out to the airport and had some lunch, I retorqued the bolts holding the carb boots and reed valve assembly on the intake.

The forecast for tomorrow is looking very nice at the moment, but I know that could change. :) With any luck I should make it to at least Willcox, Arizona and with good luck I may even make it to Lordsburg or Deming, New Mexico.

There is a wicked winter storm dumping just north of my flight path and it will be cold in the morning here. There are freeze warnings with lows of 28, but that is just the way of the desert.

Wish me luck!
Steve
